Hospitality

Ever since Abraham welcomed strangers to his tent, hospitality has been one of the founding principles of the Jewish tradition. At B’nai Israel Synagogue, we uphold this tradition and welcome all to our tent. Whether you are visiting Rochester or are relocating to Rochester or the surrounding area, we want to welcome you to our synagogue and to our community.

For Visitors

As a congregation, along with our Rabbi and staff, we provide Chaplaincy services, companionship with the local Jewish community and an extensive Jewish library with over 1,500 volumes. We are here to make your stay more comfortable.

As Rochester locals, we can help you find kosher food, gluten-free products and assist you with any other dietary concerns.  We provide spiritual support, and welcome you as one of our own. Contact us if you are already here or if you are planning your trip to Rochester.

Comments from a recent visitor to our community:

I can’t tell you how meaningful and inspirational it was for me to attend Shabbat services at B’nai Israel last week. I felt so at home, and everyone I met was so warm and friendly. When I entered the shul, I was really feeling “down” and quite stressed out, due to the long week of tests and doctors appointments that my husband was having. Welcoming Shabbat, the beautiful music, the wonderful sermon and the clear enthusiasm of the congregation really transformed me!

Thank you again for your welcoming atmosphere and the beautiful experience that I had at B’nai Israel. I hope I never “need” to come back here, but I know that I have a “family” in Rochester if I do return“. Rita
